Bio-indicator
SUNDAY
The overnight wind and rain had subsided by mid-morning so I spent an hour or so washing the cars and picking up the torn branches from the lawn.
This dead branch from one of the large sycamore trees at the front of the house had an assortment of lichen on its surface. They are particular sensitive to sulphur dioxide and their presence is an indicator of good air quality.
I spent the best part of an hour with a mallet and chisel shaving the trunk of the Christmas tree in an attempt to get it something like vertical in its stand. I failed miserably and ended up using a wedge under one of the stand's legs. I did however get the tree decorated [two weeks before the big day] which must be a personal record.
Cooked stir-fry for dinner.
