Kokako with nest building material

Beautiful bird, with an amazing song, this wonderful but sadly endangered endemic bird is being protected on Tiritiri Matangi Island. It is called the grey ghost for the silent way it glides through the forest. We had a great club trip out there, flying to Auckland from Christchurch and going out by boat. We had almost 4 days on the island, and everyone in the group was lucky enough to see kokako, and most people managed a photo.
