Halcyon Day

What a thrill! A kingfisher was perched on a branch overhanging the lake when we walked round this morning. I was quite a way away so my shot isn't great but I had to post it as it's the first I have taken on my patch. I've seen them flitting through and my son caught and released one that had flown into our potting shed. We also had one plunder our garden pond of goldfish. The bird's eye looks 'dead' to me. I'm wondering whether it was asleep or maybe it has an injured eye?
