A dreich affair.

We went with our older son and fiancé to the FOSROC Super 6 rugby match at Bridgehaugh this early afternoon. I knew from experience it’d be a grim event, the rain had barely let up since breakfast time. We were parked in good time, bought tea and hot chocolate and briefly spoke to some old acquaintances. We chose well sheltered seats in the middle of the stand, above the tunnel, and tucked in our trusty travelling rug. It rained throughout; there were some very heavy showers, rain simply sheeting down under the floodlights. Players slithered and splashed around, and got soaked and muddy. There was a fair bit of kicking, dropped ball and missed passes - it wasn’t an entertaining game. Stirling County were three nil down at the break, and Ayrshire Bulls scored an unconverted try in the second half, final score 0-8. The players showed great fortitude today.

Afterwards we went to Waitrose to collect something, and three of us had some of yesterday’s soup when we got home - just the job. I made stir fry later, after dropping the young ones off.

It rained until bedtime.
