Beautiful People

Just loved this guy's face. He was playing the drums at a medieval fair we went to in Spain, where our friend, Cecílio, was cooking.

Ermelinda, his wife, who went with us, such a good friend, my fellow misser of Padre Luís.

In extra, our new priest, Padre António, at the end of the procession for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, patron saint of Portugal.

Podge, a southern Irish guy we met last night, who is sleeping in his car, so, obviously (it does go down to almost zero at night), we have taken him under our wing, he seems lovely.

A bunch of Indians who are working here for a month or so, picking olives, so strange to see them in Mourão. Their English is a lot better than their Portuguese.

Cecília, our former neighbour, an elderly lady who can hardly walk, who has taken the Indians under her wing, giving them warm clothes and teaching them Portuguese. She was frightened of them at first, but has found out they are lovely men, she said. What a hero.

Isabela, Helder at the Adega's partner. Called me over today and asked if I sold Bibles. Said she really wants to learn about the Bible, but can't get to the Bible study, as she's working then. Said I'd love to meet with her whenever, we'll agree a time.

And now we're off, with Podge, to eat dinner with more great people, at Sem Fim.

Gratefuls:
- the huge privilege of so many great people - these and others - just in one day, humbled
- warm, crispy croissants for breakfast, with ginger preserve, and tangerine juice from our own tree
- the Irish accent, so pleasant to listen to
