Still Standing
OK, poor pun, but we attended a Christmas function in a Logis (French country hotel/restaurant) with our ex-services organisation, RAFA. You know, the usual stuff, Christmas carols, mince pies, raffle, awful ties and jumpers. The meal was slightly less seasonal. Squash soup, beef stew, with mash and chestnut gravy, profiteroles, then, at last, a little mince pie. It was ok, but not what I expected. The venue was interesting, being an old cognac distillery. These old relics were in the bar, along with some other old relics (no names, no pack drill). I was driving, so was severely limited on the drinking front. Oh well, Mrs SoL’s turn to drive to the next one!
