Scot's Pine
A quiet day recovering from yesterday's trip and catching up with report writing. I spent much of the afternoon preparing a first draft of a talk Pete and I are giving next week about the wildlife of our garden. The gloom which hung around for most of the day cleared just before dusk and there was a rather lovely afterglow which provided a good background for a silhouette of our Scot's Pine.
This is located in the far corner of our garden and has a definite lean towards the house. We estimate that it's now just about tall enough to reach our lounge extension if it should ever fall. One day we may have to think about having it felled, but it has an interesting invertebrate fauna (including pine hawk moth) and is used by a range of birds, so we're rather loath to lose it too early.
