Today we did hedgehog rescue

(S)he was walking in an ataxic fashion across the road, got scared, rolled into a ball and narrowly escaped being run over by three cars whilst I waited to cross the road.  Looked so ill/injured I was surprised it was still alive when I got home.  I was encouraged when it tucked into some meal worms but I was later told I shouldn't have given it milk (lactose intolerant).  Then taken to the cottage hospital (hedgehogs), weighed less than 290g (I was told they need to be 500g to survive hibernation, which it should have been in at this time of year ).  Cold and dehydrated, but at least (s)he enjoyed the meal worms (or reading the FT).
