The 102nd anniversary

All kind of festivalities all day long.

We have had a long walk in city centre, me and hubby, and enjoyed the military parade (and the best part of it was clearly the donuts and coffee of military sister's cafeteria), as it was held this time in Tampere. To be honest, I was out for the horse escadrona, but did not find it from the city before it already was in the parade in the middle of the crowd... There was some 30.000 people along the parade.

Most of finns are nationalistic people, I guess.

For the partytime, I prepared splendid stakes for us, bacon and beans with fried potaroes and salad. And the rest of the evening will be spent as always by watching the party of Presidential Castle in television. Some 2000 people, also some of our friends representing all of us there. Normally hubby has been in the castle making the television and on demand -broadcasts, but this year he is at home.

Both of our kids are attending in university students torchlight parades, one on which held in Helsinki and one in Tampere. I am proud of them. Hubby was nice as he said to me, that we or I must have done something right as our children are in students' parades - and not somewhere else... There was again also all kind of other parades in Helsinki, antisocial and antinational ones.

Although there is lot to make better in this God forsaken country, I have to admit that I feel good to live in this kind of a peaceful and beautiful place.

The 102nd Independence day of Finland today.
