Australian bush fires

In the morning, the sky is hazy and the sun takes a while to break through. As we face northwest, one has to go outside the building on the road frontage side to see the eastern sky. Struck by a sudden deterioration into having a hacking "smoker's" cough (despite having never smoked), I chose to stay inside. Indeed, I stayed inside all morning, after ringing in sick to work. That was a good call as I have definitely improved. S will say it is due to me obeying and taking some Oxylent by which she swears.

Late this afternoon, I ventured forth to collect Young L from school, causing him some dissatisfaction as he likes travelling home by train with his friends. He was a little quiet during the rather slow trip out west as S and I took him home. All sorted before we left there and returned to the City. Where I made the decision to await sunset for my blip.

The smoke in the atmosphere from the fires started to colour the sun during the last 20 - 30 minutes before it set..This photo was taken only three or four minutes before the sun was below the horizon. And it is true to what I saw. There is so much particulate in the atmosphere that there was little to no glare for the last half an hour.
