I missed the best photo because I was in the car. The view from the east side of Rydal Water was amazing. Reeds by the shore were glowing, there was some mist over the lake and more on the fells behind. Those who have driven the road will know that there's nowhere to stop.

Onwards to Grasmere for a Co-op shop. Can't explain why we spend about 4 times as much there as we used to in the Ambleside store (which is closed for refurbishment). I noticed the shadows of the buildings on the field after parking the car so took a few shots. 

After lunch a short local walk ....... only 1½ miles, so went out again later in the afternoon into Stockghyll Wood. There's been some tree felling and views of the waterfall have improved. 

Considering how bad my throat felt yesterday I've been surprised at how well I was today. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
