Wonderland
There is a connection between this shot and my last two blips. A vague and unintentional connection, but a connection nonetheless...
Yesterday's blip was a street shot in Lothian Road in front of a shop which is well known to those who spend time in the area. Today's blip is a street shot in Lothian Road in front of a shop which is well known to those who spend time in the area.
Monday's blip was a shot of a building which is no longer what it used to be nor what it (soon?) will be. Today's blip is a shot of a shop which has seemingly been there forever but which may or may not last much longer...
According to their website (which I didn't know existed till earlier today), Wonderland had been "established for over 35 years", which takes us back to the early 70s. They sell models. A look around their website shows the kind of models they sell - model cars, model planes, train sets, radio-controlled models, doll's houses and so on... They also sell airguns and used to sell replica firearms until they were outlawed a year or two ago. I'm surprised that there is still a market for such stuff, or at least enough of a market to sustain a rather large city centre shop. Leisure pursuits have moved on since the 70s... but Wonderland is still there. Perhaps their web sales are sufficient to sustain them... but it wouldn't surprise me if they were to close down sometime soon. Mind you, I've been thinking that for the past 10 years...
