UCU strike day 6 - rally in Glasgow

The strike continues. Today's highlight was a rally in Glasgow. Excellent speeches. Although I must admit that I am quite daunted once I realised that what we are striking about, our pensions, the pay gaps and the working conditions, is symptomatic. I don't think our university management can change these without the system they are operating in being changed. It's the policies the mostly Tory government introduced during the last decade, the fees (yes, New Labour introduced them, but the Tories bumped them up to £9k/a) and the removal of the student number cap that forced through a neoliberal agenda. Like so many things that are wrong, system change is required to fix them.
