Unauthorized Access

I stopped at Okehampton Castle on a dull rainy day a while back and at the time I said I'd make a return visit on a better day. With the lovely weather today, it seemed like a good chance to revisit.

It seems that the castle is closed at this time of year. I hate that about English Heritage, the way they just close our heritage so we can't see things. The fences are not exactly impenetrable but I was hesitant to just walk in. I walked up the road a bit where I found another gate close to it was a broken down part of the wall where I could just walk in.

The sun was sinking almost directly behind the castle which made things very contrasty. I like this shot with the sun partly shielded by a wall.
