Hawthorne Berries in the Blue Sky
FINALLY! The Washington Hawthorne bush/tree has put for its red berries high up on a branch. I planted the slip as a gift from the Arbor Day Foundation 10+ years ago. Then I have waited and waited for the promise of springtime flowers and autumn berries.
I still have never seen the flowers. Next year I will look up into the sky for them.
Certainly the impressive thorns are all over the tall bush. I am happy to have discovered the berries. I assume the birds will enjoy them this winter.
