An impressive read

About two Jewish sisters and their families. It is non fiction. The author must've done an immense amount of research. Not only regarding the two sisters but also about the German occupation in the Netherlands.

She tells detailed about how the Germans slowly implement their methods to destroy the Jewish population. Gaining trust at first, involving the Jewish Council, making use of Dutch traitors and Dutch bounty hunters. Alongside the general details of war there's the true story of two sisters in their twenties that go into hiding in plain sight with falsified id's. They rent a villa in the woods, but go out and about to do the shopping and such. They continue to do work for the resistance but also create a safe haven for many others who need to hide. Until they too are betrayed and get sent to Auschwitz.

It is all set in formal tone, not dramatic. Still, it makes you feel like you're there. Like the world is closing in on you.
