Growing old disgracefully

VIEW FROM THE CONVENT WINDOW

Arrived at Ladywell just before dark, so the opportunities for outdoor photography limited to this quick snap out of the window of my cell. The convent is in the village of Tuesley named after the Saxon war God Tiw. It has been a place of worship for centuries, but it is only since the 1950s that the pagan sanctuary was replaced by a statue of the Virgin and it became all Catholic and proper. Quite overwhelmed by all the cruxifixes and worried that the one over my bedhead might impale during the night for all my wickednesses, but I had a wee word with him and we agreed to leave each other in peace for the duration.

Cut free from wifi for a week, so this is back blipped and from a distance it is hard to connect with the sense of excitment and panic I faced on the first night here, but I do remember the horror of the lumpy bed and the general sense of loss of the Prof.
