Garden Xmas Lunch

Today we attended the Xmas party lunch of the Rhododendron Society at the home of one of the members. This is one small view of their 4 acre garden. The grounds were an estate, much more than just a garden.

We are only new members and already I have been designated as official photographer! It was quite a surprise when I found out that the host of the party was an old school friend from my childhood.

I had not seen him for 64 years! It was good to swap stories from the old days and chat about so many people we both knew. Sadly a number of them have passed on.

The huge garden is now too much for him and his wife, and so they have just sold the property. It was an emotional day for them as they talked about how hard it is as they prepare to move out.
