Lala's Journal

A Good Day

my day began when I noticed a robin on the small table in the courtyard. I have been putting meal worms out but not really sure whether the robin, wind or pigeons were getting them. I quickly put some out and sure enough saw him fly down. Sadly as I grabbed the camera I startled him and he flew off. I managed a shot as he sat on the fence, but it’s not brilliant, so just in my extras. Half an hour later I caught a pigeon eating them! So I guess that sometimes the robin does get them, but not always!

I then walked Dog on the beach, nice and calm, but icy cold.

Mid morning we set off to Hempstead Valley. It used to be my shopping place of choice when we lived in Lordswood, and it was good to be back. I spent more than I should, and the M&S has been revamped to excellence. I think I will be back soon. Then James and Amanda arrived with Mollie and we all went for coffee, joined soon by Megan and Ben. Short and sweet catch up before we headed off to Maureen’s for afternoon tea.

She did us proud, a fabulous spread and great chats with her and Glen, Bill, Katie and Ian, Brenda and Dave. The photo shows us four ‘girls’. Three of us are ex foster parents, one of us determined to return to it. Two of us fostered the same children from a particular family several times. Two of us adopted some of our foster children. One of them faced death when she got sepsis following chemo for her cancer, currently in remission. One of the, was knocked down by a motorcycle and sustained leg and brain injuries, resulting in serious brain surgery. Two of us have known each other since being pregnant with our now 40+ children and also worked together for several years. One of them was my rock following my dad’s sudden and unexpected death. We have all shared much joy, laughter, fun and fabulous celebratory ‘dos’ and we have also shed many tears together. These friends are as good as family to me and I loved spending time with them today, it is a rare occurrence for us to get together.
