Happy sankranti

14th of january sankranthi is celebrated here- the transmigration of the Sun from one R?shi (constellation of the zodiac) to the next. It's officially a holiday, the offices are closed and people hang out with family and friends. I was offered pongal (a very sweet rice dish) by my indian host family, and some salt snacks. Lots of nice flower chains at the gates, and extra colourful rangolis in front of the houses. At the entrance of my house is a rangoli with the sun in yhe middle, sugar canes and candle lights in both sides, and some flowers.
