Bare Tree on Winter Night

The dying season.
Autumn brings a blazing end.
The long night begins.

~ Natasha Illsley

We enjoyed a clear, sunny, cold Thanksgiving Day. It was a relaxed and casual time with a few close friends.

One friend recently immigrated from Vietnam and is learning to read, write and speak English at the local college. She had an assignment to ask ten people what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving. This topic provided some thoughtful and deep conversations about gratitude.

Now we move toward the deep night of winter and the close of the year. It seems only weeks ago we were celebrating the height of summer. Tempus fugit!
