Sally Mair - Loving life

Oor Wullie

Here we have Edinburgh's answer to Glasgow's Duke of Wellington Statue - Oor Wullie outside the Rutland and Caledonian Hotels at the West End.
Today was quite full, I needed to be in town for 2.30 so knew I had a leisurely morning until I realised I needed a pink candle for our advent crown on Sunday.
Aargh, there are no pink candles in Edinburgh, not in the upmarket department stores, not in Tiger, couldn't even find one in a charity shop. You are fine if you want white, green, red, silver, gold, dark blue or even glittery candles but not pink! Homer in Frederick Street came up with a shell pink one which will have to do until the rose pink ones which I ended up having to order online, arrive from Amazon. I hope they are rose pink and not fluorescent!
I had time for a quick coffee and scone in Bon Papillon, it was very busy but I managed to sneak a seat with a young couple from South Korea who were visiting Edinburgh for just a couple of nights but loved it.
I had a very relaxing massage in Clarins after that, just what I needed. I wasn't relaxed for long though, got a bus home to meet Ali and drive out to the airport to pick up one of her bridesmaids who was visiting from Berlin. The group are having a pre-wedding bonding session this weekend.
