The dining room at Auckland Castle

This castle was built to be a place of residence for the Prince Bishops of Durham. The Durham diocese was the largest in the country at the time and the Prince Bishops were fabulously wealthy. Think more Prince than Bishop. They were the monarch's representative in the North. Had a fabulous day out there in Auckland and saw Auckland tower an art gallery and the chapel.
