Foreign Food

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I thought it may amuse you to know that, in the Xmas treats section of Whitcoulls, they have devoted one corner to Tunnock's treats.

It made me smile. And it made me think of my lovely friend, the Princess.

But I have started Xmas shopping. It is official. I haven't gone nuts yet, but the wheels are in motion. I went to a Kiwi shop and got my dad a waka - a small model of a Maori canoe.

"Look at this wocka I got my dad," I told Lemon.

"Waka," she corrected me. "It's an 'a for apple' sound both times."

She is right of course. But I wouldn't feel right telling people they could take a look at my dad's little wacker. There's something indecent about it.

I also got my dad a Paua Jesus. That is, Jesus being crucified on a paua shell. I suppose that is verging on tacky, but it strikes me that this is what Xmas is all about.

And if I have now worried YOU people with what might be getting in the mail, then I can't really blame you.

S.
