Brazilian Amethyst.
Still too busy/dull day to go out and blip anything, so it is back to things round home. What seems like decades ago we had two jewellers shops, J G Johnstone and The Gem Den. When Kanyl and his wife retired we closed JGJ and Clickychick kept on the original she started The Gem Den. She closed the Gem Den 7 years ago.
The Gem Den specialised in silver jewellery and semi precious stones. Among the jewellery she had all sorts of stone samples, fossils and things crafted from stone.
We still have many stones and stone objects round the house. Today this slab of Brazilian Amethyst caught my eye. The white at the front of the picture is where it was sawn. If you look closely you can see the outlines of crystals. Minerals like this always amazes me when I think that they are formed from cooling chemicals deep in a "vug" in the rock.
