Swan Lake

Today's the day ………………………. for forty swans-aswimming

And those are just the ones pictured here - there were hundreds more.

Caerlaverock WWT Reserve, south of Dumfries, is such a good place to take little ones for their first bird-watching experience.  The birds are huge - Whooper and Mute swans and a whole load of Barnacle Geese and diving ducks - and you can watch them from the comfort of the magnificent 'hide'.  They come to be fed twice a day and they really don't mind if you get up close and personal with them.

There are lots of child-friendly trails about the reserve - and a very nice café that serves just the right sort of lunches.  Everyone is very friendly and just really pleased that you have brought the little ones with you.

Brilliant …………………….!
