How's Your Eyesight?
We finished three days of very intense training. Thomas and I were intensely in the moment for the entire time, giving concise, comprehensive statements of knowledge, timing our interjections in an interlocking and complimentary basis, bridging between unrivalled, in-depth mastery of the subject (Thomas) and how to translate it into effective practice (me), supporting always, testing, probing, holding back and asserting in equal measure, responding to needs and doubts, fully and honestly, and injecting humour to leaven our passion in sharing knowledge of the most fundamental aspects of human characteristics and how to operationalise it in the occupational space. I coined a new phrase that we may use in the future, 'Bring Yourself To The World' . . . with the sub-text that if you do fully, you will be 100% activated and the world will benefit from what you uniquely provide. Slightly more prosaically, we say that the greatest gift a leader can give is to match someone's preferences to activities that benefit from the behaviours they naturally produce.
Can you see anything unusual about this wall in the photo in the laptop? Have a guess....I will tell you tomorrow.
A Day Later....Answer re photo . . . we use this photo as a metaphor to illustrate how the hard-wiring of our brain does not let us see the underlying/hidden aspects of our true personality. Once we discover it (using a tool like the B5-PLUS), it is then available to us and, in fact, cannot ever be 'unseen'. Very, very few people can see anything unusual here in this photo. The way our brain is wired prevents us seeing it. Go in, have another look...
Now, I will tell you that there is a cigar with ash on the end of it sticking out of a crack in the wall. You will now see it. . . and never be able to look at this picture without seeing it! Have a good look . . . you can see the brown cylinder or tube of the cigar and the ash on the end of it.
