Moldywarp

Had a bit of fun today with a friend fiddling around with clay.   There are 5 nails, promise!  I know the arms are supposed to face outwards but it fell on its nose when they were made that way.  When dry it will be painted very dark grey with browny-pink nose and nails and I shall try to insert some whiskers when it has dried a bit more.

There is a true story to tell about moles.  A friend in the RAF was landing his plane after a sortie.  As he flew over the end of the runway the chap who sits in a shed looking up to see the landing gear is correctly down fired a warning flare and my friend had to pull up and go around the circuit again.  He knew there had been nothing wrong with his wheels so he stormed into the control tower to find out why his landing had been aborted.  Apparently the mole catcher, with his handlebars laden with corpses, had been cycling across the end of the airfield but because he was cycling so slowly he had missed the red lights.  He had been in the centre of the landing area when he looked up and saw the plane approaching - fallen off his bike and lain there surrounded by moles!  (Moles tunnel under the tarmac and undermine the edges of landing strips)
