Achilles

A day at the British Museum for the Troy Exhibition.  We had tickets for the Curator's talk in the lecture hall first, and it was preceded on stage by a short protest against BP, the sponsors of the exhibition, by five youngsters.  Following problems last year where the museum was closed for a couple of hours by protestors, I suspect they had been allowed by the museum to  make their point to stop further escalation.  Whatever your view on BP the youngsters made their point well and in fact, it was the behaviour of the (largely elderly) audience that was more reprehensible with one or two shouting at the protesters to 'shut up' while others shouted back that they wanted to hear what they had to say.  An interesting philosophical thought; a lot of people supporting the protestors against BP sponsorship were then going to see the exhibition with tickets partly subsidised by BP: debate.

An interesting exhibition; W liked it better than I did but then she is currently studying the literature so it meant a lot more to her than it did to me.  I also found it highly irritating that most of the information panels were at floor level so were immediately blocked if just one person was standing in front and impossible to see when it was busy.  The Tutankhamun exhibition we saw recently at the Saatchi had most of the information above head height where everyone could read it; when will the BM learn?
