Drainage
I was nursing a very sore mouth today after yesterday's battering. I had to meet up with Mrs TT in Boston on my way to the cafe as she had forgotten the hospital volunteer's pass. The cafe was quiet which I was quite thankful for. This is a rather prosaic Fenland version of the famous Mannekin Pis statue in Brussels. It is just an example of field drainage which is particularly important at the moment. The land is sodden and even the main roads are clarted with mud after tractors have ambitiously tried to get onto the land again. The farmers are meant to clean off the mud as it is dangerous for drivers. They rarely do. I noticed on my circuit walk that there have been attempts to gouge deep furrows leading into the dykes where the fields are particularly waterlogged.
