Edward Hopper Hawk

This is a Cooper's hawk scanning the nearby hillsides for his breakfast.  The light reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting. Hopper was always on the verge of telling a story. He was very tightlipped about the meaning and subject matter of his work.
Hopper chooses the time of day when the sun makes long shadows  creating an abrupt contrast between the light on the subject and darkness elsewhere. His well-defined forms  are contrasted with the bareness of the natural surroundings.  He included just enough detail to tempt the viewer to devise a narrative of their own.
