Brunch
No gym today again, so we decided to walk across the Links (via Muriel Spark Walk) for brunch at Honeycomb - we needed a wee treat. I texted Jordan and Isobel to pop in and join us (they live nearby), and he texted back that he'd love to, but they're in Iona - he and Isobel 'tagged along' on a work jaunt with his wife. A much better offer!
We both had the sweetcorn fritters with avocado and poached aggs. Delicious. Good coffee too.
Archie and I walked back while JR went on into Morningside to pick up her re-soled winter boots.
We spent the afternoon keeping warm and watching Davis Cup tennis. Libby took Archie out for a big walk in the Hermitage, then stayed for a chat and a cuppa. She's very busy at uni, finding it much harder than her first year, but she's enjoying it and keeping on top of assignments.
Christine, Rufus's mum (who hasn’t been well either) texted to ask if we liked meringues... the answer was YES! She'd made ice cream for her nephew, so had lots of spare egg whites, and doesn’t really like meringues... she brought a large container full of 'em. And though Libby helped a wee bit, the container is decidedly empty looking now.
More bingeing on The Crown this evening. And maybe have the last two meringues...
