Controversial

On the way home from Kendal this morning we called it at a well known farm shop. It is a very high quality place and wins national awards.

As you can see it has a substantial sales point for Raw Milk.

Raw Milk comes straight from the cow and is not pasteurised. The cows are of course TB free.
It is legal to sell this in England but not, I believe, in Scotland. But it can only be sold on the farm premises where it is produced. You will not find it in supermarkets and shops. I read that there are fewer than 200 outlets in England with 7 being in Cumbria.

People who buy it claim that it tastes better, has better nutrition and builds up the immune system.
Government advice is that it should not be drunk by children, the elderly and those with a weakened immune system.

Given the elaborate sales machine the farm here must sell a reasonable amount.

Needless to say we did not buy any.
