An Unkindness of Ravens

The scene of Friday's emergency

We went to Warrandyte today and I just couldn't help myself - I had to stop and have a look at the scene of Friday's mini-drama, that could so easily have become a national disaster if not dealt with promptly. I should maybe call it a 'crime scene' as the (not necessarily reliable) word on the street is that it was arson. There is some red tape in the shot, if you look carefully, so maybe 'they' are right.

This is immediately on the other side of the trees in this shot yesterday from MrRosewarne.

I did have some bugs - a really interesting stick insect that I found in my parents garden - it was at least 20cm long and REALLY looked like a stick, until it moved! But stick insects actually aren't very photogenic, despite being fascinating things.

On the bee front, I took one hour 11 minutes (a full 8GB SD card!) of video this morning and another later this afternoon, with no activity recorded (apart from the very busy ants moving stuff about in the shot!). I will persevere though, until I get some bee recordings, as I have no idea how long she goes out for or when, so at some point I ought to get something on film! Hopefully she'll get used to seeing the unmanned camera there and will ignore it. I did see her buzzing around some other flowers though (when I had no camera on me, of course!)

This evening, rather than spend all night commenting and answering comments and generally doing nothing but blip, I am going downstairs now to start a mosaic for a friend's birthday. So apologies if I don't get to comment or reply tonight - I need to get some other things done first!
