Waxing Lyrical.....

Monday- a day best forgotten. A sharp frost this morning . Only -3 but caused some problems. Both a John Deere and Claas tractor decided their diesel didn’t like the cold and conked out. Didn’t have fuel filters for either of them so 2 different lots of mechanics out to replace them . They were both saying that everyone is having major problems with fuel and filters just now. Seemingly the percentage of biodiesel in tractor diesel has been increased and this is causing lots of problems. In cold weather the diesel turns waxy far quicker which clogs up filters, also it also allows bacteria to build up in fuel tanks which cause water to collect in the fuel and cause more havoc . So much for being environmentally friendly.
Spent most of the day hauling heifers home from next door to the slatted shed here. By 4pm I had all 60 home.
Turning to frost again tonight so hopefully we won’t have more fuel problems tomorrow.
