The Long and Winding Road

This morning we awoke to fresh snow on the tops surrounding Queenstown.  That rain last night must have frozen as snow at the higher altitudes.  With a full tank of petrol we headed north and the first stop was at Lindis Pass 3,000ft/ 971mts.  It is tussock covered and iconic.  See extra pic of lovely daughter at pass.   We had lunch at Omarama and a family conference looking at the big wall map of the South Island.  I have wanted to see the road to Mesopotamia Station and the Forester has been up it before and said yeah we can do that and we did.  Where we stopped to turn around the sun was nicely on this huge face across the Rangitata River.  The grass is very lush and there were sheep and lambs, cattle and calves, and deer in the paddocks.  A place to revisit for sure.
