The Darwin Mosaic.
Today was quite a productive day, it started with a beekeeping club meeting at The Darwin Building at Kings Buildings. We went to see the microscopes used there as we need to purchase some for our education projects; it started off with coffee and biscuits, it was a little too early for cakes, and then Maurice (one of our members) gave a short lecture on the sort of organisms from the beekeeping world that we would be wanting to look at when we actually have our own instruments and how they fitted into the grand scheme of things in the Universe. Then we got to play with very expensive toys . . .
From seven stories up there would have been a wonderful view of the city but for the dirty windows, I decided there were better blips to be had. The one chosen was this mosaic in the entrance foyer of the building, pity about the tables but there might have been complaints had I tried to move them.
This afternoon, Mrs TD decided that we needed to go to IKEA for some clips for storage boxes. I always feel that IKEA should be an acronym but find it difficult to put words to it; the 80p clips turned out rather expensive after coffee and a shared Danish had been paid for, then there was a new storage box which we found was damaged when we got it home (that will be more coffee and cakes when we return it), and the Swedish chocolate, and the quilting material, and the magazine boxes; I'm sure I've forgotten something, but I'll remember it as soon as I've posted this. There was a bonus, by the entrance there was a display of birds of prey, including a couple of gorgeous small owls, it was a bit crowded, the light was fading and I had no control over the background but I took a couple of decent pictures, I'll post one of them in my folio once I've sorted out the extraneous detail.
A propos of nothing in particular, IKEA do have some interesting names for their products, I noticed a notice extolling us to, "Protect your wooden floors with KOLON floor protectors." We had a quiet giggle over that one.
