The Bishop's Mitre
This is the weekend when the feast day of St Hilda is celebrated. Yes, that's right, the Hilda of Hildasrose. This meant that the Bishop of Birmingham was visiting and preaching. I actually saw him yesterday and he was very warm in his words of praise this morning, especially when he spoke to my Dad about the work I am doing.
He is a very charismatic man and has some quirky ways which endear him to people - one of which is propping up his mitre on his crozier when he has finished the service. He doesn't travel to normal services with his posh robes - they are difficult to carry on his pushbike.
This afternoon we went to visit some longstanding friends whose daughter is getting married in three weeks time. We are unable to go to the wedding so i had a sneak preview of the wedding dress. She will look absolutely stunning. We are sad to miss the wedding.
Youngest nephew took his grandad out for lunch today. They have a very good relationship and both seem to have enjoyed themselves.
It's been a quite full on weekend and we are both timed now but we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
