Sunny afternoon
Another lovely day - cold, crisp and sunny - yes, we left the chores and headed out. We are re-exploring the Fastnet Trails on the Mizen Peninsula and today we did the Lisheenacrehig walk, parking close to the church of the Most Holy Rosary. A question we often ponder, can you have a most holy rosary or are they all holy? Is there something we don't know? Anyway, the whole walk was most enjoyable. We saw:
two buzzards
a stone row
an exceptionally filthy farmyard which was spilling out onto the road
a grotto
two derelict churches (inside one a man was furtively taking photos of grave paraphernalia, I recognised that look and we got chatting!)
a ruined school
a gang of bullocks
a large black and friendly labrador
a quay
a corrugated iron cottage near said quay
a well, not holy but renown for the quality of its water
Jeremy Irons' castle close up but the sun was in the way for a good photo
and this magnificently rusty hulk, still sporting some great colours.
We ate our sunday lunch of oatcakes and cheese, followed by a tangerine and a bit of chocolate, down at the pier. It was brief as the wind, north east, was ferocious.
Sunday afternoon - in winter time!
