Something different

This morning, Larissa and I spent an hour and a half with our wedding photographer talking about what we want from him for the day. He's actually the hubby of Larissa's boss and a very likeable chap. His rather impressive Lowepro 'rucksack' consisted of no less than two of those badboy Canons that Joe and Brickmaker have plus a variety of lenses to suit. His portfolio was mighty impressive and I had a great time chatting about cameras, lenses and techniques (although he did smirksnort at my comment about Crumplers being great manbags and far more trendy than Lowepros!).

He lent me a couple of lenses he doesn't use to try out and make an offer on should I like them. One is a Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX Macro which my 1000D accepts but autofocus doesn't seem to work. The other is a Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 DG which works pretty well but is rather noisy (as in volume) when it comes to focusing. I'll try them out over the next few days and see how I get on. (If any of you use these, I'd be interested to know what you think of them).

After the meeting, I found a renewed drive to get back into to trying to take decent picture for my journal rather than continue with my current trend of shaky N82 efforts. This is the result. Slightly different to what I usually do, but I like it nonetheless.

As an aside, my N82 Step Counter program tells me this little blip detour was a 3.02km jaunt of 3,637 steps taking just over 30 minutes. Walking around for short bursts under the Oman sun is a good way to get a bit of colour on my cheeks and scalp before the wedding (where I'm slightly worried about how I'll look in the photos with the midday sun shining off my bonce).
