Desk Lamp (for Sara)

This was taken at the fascinating Vija Celmins show currently on display at the Met Breuer. Look her up! She’s one of those first-rate obsessives, like Giorgio Morandi, but with absolutely her own preoccupations and style. The work pictured here is not a photograph, but a meticulous oil-on-canvas painting based on a photograph she took of her own desk lamp.
