Head Of The River.

On Sat 16th Nov. part of the lower river Cam was closed off for the 'Winter Head Of The River' competitions organised by the Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs. I couldn't get near to where the action was but later, this boat was on the way back to the clubhouse. I managed to find a gap between two residential barges who are licensed to moor along this river bank. I haven't heard who was awarded the title of 'Winter Head Of The River.'  One of the many students cheering their clubs on, kindly took a moment to explain to me what was going on.
