Fur

My family was going through the difficult task of sorting out my nana's house (she passed away a few months ago). Amongst some bags in the loft, we came across my Great Aunt, Winnie's, mink fur coat, that had been passed on to my mum. I found out that Winnie had this coat made for her, it cost her a fair bob but she wore it loads.

Now I don't wish to offend people, I know fur can bring out quite strong feeling and I would like to make it clear that I would never buy an item made from real fur. As you can see from the picture, I couldn't help trying it on though. I had mixed feelings, I felt like I was doing something so naughty but I couldn't help seeing and feeling the quality of the coat in the weight and cut. I also felt it held the glamour and history of the 1950's.

My mums never worn it as she feels the same, so we're not quite sure what to do with it. My vote goes to giving it to a museum collection of some kind....
