It being a lovely day with blue skies we thought we’d go for a drive like people used to. Though without the travelling rugs and thermos. So, to where? Where to? South! To Peebles, yes, I’m getting to the age where I’m saying things like, oh yes you can park right in the High Street - for free! And it’s still got proper shops, and not a beggar to be seen*, nor a scrap of litter.
And if that wasn’t enough, we headed on up the Tweed, under wonderful arches of spreading beech trees to Dawyck where we parked up and enjoyed coffee and scones.
And they were decent sized scones - and quite reasonably priced too - and you could take as many little packs of jam and butter as you wished. And everyone was so pleasant and friendly.
* there was an aged hippy playing a didgeridoo but he was probably employed by visitPeebles.
