Hawthorn

Today's the day …………………….. to see red

We were spared the terrible weather that has been happening today in other parts of the UK.

The sky was the bluest of blue and the sun shone in it all day.  So I took myself off for a walk along the River Dee.  There was still lots of colour to be seen - particularly this vivid red of the hawthorn berries.  A flock of birds (perhaps redwings?) were making a meal of them but flew off to the fields as I approached.

I wonder if they taste as good as they look ……………………..?
