Borve, Tarbert and Hushinish
Every morning we set off a little earlier.
This morning we started at Borve beach. As we walked from the road, we saw a pink sky ahead with the moon still in the sky. I managed a couple of shots before the moon disappeared for the day. The sun had risen behind us and the sky was dark and orange/red for a while.
The waves breaking at Borve were wonderful.
We were cold by the time we finished this shoot and we later saw ice on the beach path at Hushinish.
I'm glad that we stopped briefly in Tarbert, where a mobile van was serving hot drinks and bacon butties. In the warm waiting room of the bus station, Heather and I met Noel. He is walking around the British Isles and has been going for 19 months already, after being made redundant and losing his house and everything. He walked instead of going on the streets and says he is now happy.
The light was perfect for the drive along the winding road to Hushinish. I felt very nostalgic where I saw Scarp. This is where David and Lesley came every summer to a small house. Lesley died suddenly back in Haltwhistle a few months ago. I have fond memories of staying on Scarp, although I did not enjoy the weather at the time. Lesley was in her element on the island, always relaxed and happy there.
Hushnish now has a lovely modern shed where you can eat your picnic and go to the loo. The view is stunning.
On the return journey we stopped by the waterfall at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle. See extra.
This evening Peter showed us the images he is entering for the CPAGB and an extensive collection of images from a holiday in Namibia. It was his birthday today and Margaret had a cake and candles for him.
We all submitted a few images to show on the big screen. It was terrific to see other people's work and to glean ideas. We leave at 0700 in the morning, so it's an early night tonight.
