Suits you sir
I had donned a blue blazer for a meeting with people from the corporate sector, for which I felt I needed to dress to impress. As I got into the txopela I noticed Paulo was sporting an identical blazer. How we laughed.
In my Portuguese lesson I was describing the expressionless (read: miserable) reaction of the woman at the car hire place when we were dealing with the wheel rim issue on Sunday. Ilídio said she had uma cara de segunda feira (a Monday face), an expression that I liked.
Later on my colleague and pal Pippa in the UK office confirmed she’d received positive news that the corporate partner had authorised a proposal as a result of my meeting in the morning. I hadn’t realised it would be a bit of a grilling about potentially working together more closely to help offset some of the impacts of the gas developments offshore in northern Mozambique. Given there is appetite for the extractives sector from the highest echelons in Mozambican government, in order to compensate for any damage to habitats, there are some potentially interesting marine projects we could get off the ground in nearby areas. The blazer had the desired impact.
