Highs and Lows

And it's all about Ben.  

After getting over the shock of these photos at the weekend, we now have to process the reports of escalating violence in Hong Kong.  

Ben is (as far as he, and we, know) safe & currently able to observe the protests and violence from his room on a 'locked down' CUKH campus following the police coming in with tear gas and guns to deal with the student protesters.  Sam watching the link thought the smoke and gunshots sounds was like a video game.

He's sent us a link of live footage should you wish to follow it.  Another International student who is a friend  posted on Facebook about the situation including a perception in Hong Kong that the West have no idea what's going on.  I know that there are reports (but maybe HK media aren't showing them in HK?  We just don't know.).

But what an incredibly powerful lesson on western privilege, press influence, fake news, and the fact that we can only react/respond if we know about stuff.. and that is not in our hands!
