Rabbit Ings

Rabbit Ings is a wonderful place for seeing wildlife...in particular, kestrels and short eared owls. It was very cold today but I loved watching both of these species as well as redwings and goldfinches. This kestrel was eating worms on a path and kindly let me get close enough for a clearish photo.

Birding and photography are great hobbies, it's ok to go and talk to strange people with binoculars and cameras! At Rabbit Ings you can be sure to find other birders at the moment, the owls have been there for quite a few months now and are just stunning birds! 'Have you seen the owls yet?' is a much asked question as you meet others and when they appear, it's magical, especially today with wonderful light shining through their wings.

I don't have a massive camera lens and choose to watch them rather than attempt to take a photo...wonderful :)
