You finish a window, wash and rub it down, hang it back on the hinges to let it dry out and come down the next morning to find it’s covered in varnish residue again. So you sand it with the flat sander, the detail sander and fiddle and faff around with more stripper, wash it again, hang it again and hope for the best.

I went down to a new shop to get more stripper. Guy says to me you can have the healthy stripper but it ain’t gonna work; you can take this metal stripper that works fine on wood; or, walking me to the back of the shop and the secret cupboard, you can buy this stripper- a big gallon jar of pink gloop ould’ve took your face off - that the professionals swear by, its €70 but it REALLY works what with the heavy duty glasses, face mask and quarter inch rubber gloves.

I took the mid range option and two metres of 60 grade glass paper, got in my beat up Daihatsu pick-up in the pouring rain and high tailed it back to pretend peasant land. Cos you don’t mess with professional strippers. Am I right?
